Bad Day Diner

Description:
Bad Day Diner is a playful visual identity for a fictional diner built around a simple truth: everyone has bad days, and everyone deserves good comfort food when they do. The diner is imagined as a warm, judgment-free refuge—a booth to land in, a hot plate to lean on, and a little humor to take the edge off.
The menu transforms everyday stressors into indulgent, tongue-in-cheek dishes: Dentist Drill Donuts, Layoff Lasagna, Steakholder n’ Eggs, DMV (Deluxe Macaroni & Velveeta), Overtime Omelette, Depressed & Anxious (fish and chips—the perfect pair), Traffic Ticket Tacos, and more. Naming becomes part of the brand’s emotional language—calling out the bad day so you can laugh at it, eat through it, and move on.
Visually, the identity nods to classic American diner culture—chrome, checkerboard floors, bold type—reimagined with a softer, more human sensibility. The logo features a small character shielding itself from the rain, a simple metaphor for vulnerability and resilience. Paired with playful illustration and tactile details, the system balances retro nostalgia with modern emotional warmth.
Bad Day Diner is comfort food as branding: familiar, a little cheesy, and there for you when life isn’t.
